The Alaska Raptor Center seeks to treat, study, and care for eagles and other raptors, as well as educate visitors about these magnificent native birds.

The Sitka National Historical Park provides guided nature walks, historical tours, and educational programs and exhibits. At the Sheet'ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi community house, live dramatic performances throughout the summer portray local history and culture through song and dance.

Other area attractions include the Russian Bishop's House, the Tlingit Native Village, Saint Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, which is on the National Historic Register, and numerous state parks and recreational areas.
