SITKA, ALASKA

For a truly memorable Alaska vacation experience, consider lodging accommodations at a Sitka bed and breakfast. Located right on the Pacific Ocean coast in the Southeast region of the state, Sitka, Alaska offers visitors a unique travel opportunity. There is whale watching year-round here as humpback whales call Sitka Sound home. Every year the town celebrates these special residents with a WhaleFest in early November. Whales aren’t the only closely watched wildlife in town; the Alaska Raptor Center seeks to treat, study and care for eagles and other raptors, as well as educate visitors about these magnificent native birds. The Sitka National Historical Park provides opportunities for photography, hiking, birdwatching, and picnicking, as well as guided nature walks, historical tours, and educational programs and exhibits. At the Sheet'ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi community house live dramatic performances throughout the summer portray local history and culture through song and dance. Other area attractions include, the Russian Bishop's House, the Tlingit Native Village, Saint Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, which is on the National Historic Register, and numerous state parks and recreational areas. There is so much to see and do in Sitka, AK, and our local BBAA innkeepers look forward to sharing their love of this area with you.
